Otraparte Museum

A preferred place to visit and an excellent opportunity to discover about the Colombian culture, its literature and its writers, the Otraparte Museum, located in the nearby municipality of Envigado, is one of our favorite things to do in Medellin.

Things to do in Medellin: Otraparte Museum

The Fernando Gonzalez – Otraparte Corporation was created on April 10th, 2002 after the initiative of Simon Gonzalez Restrepo, youngest son of the writer. The main objectives of this Organization are to disseminate and preserve the spiritual and philosophical legacy of master writer Fernando Gonzalez Ochoa, convert the Otraparte Museum into a cultural center with international projection, and preserve the area as Park and garden for the benefit of the community and the protection of the environment. In this way, the Otraparte Cultural Park project emerges as a request to re-join once and for all, the message and philosophy of Fernando Gonzalez, not enough published yet, not very well known yet, but always so disturbing and so provocative. In Otraparte Fernando Gonzalez’s heart still beats and its work is kept alive, and it will not be turn off or be extinguished.

Inside the Otraparte Museum, visitors can find a coffee shop and a bookstore, which complements the different cultural activities such as free entry film projections, cultural gatherings and talks, and exhibitions.

In addition, the garden of the Museum is the ideal place to read a book and enjoy the shade of the mango trees, the sound of the water while it runs on the springs, and a natural environment in the middle of the city.

The Otraparte Museum is located at: Carrera 43 A # 27 A Sur – 11
