The most important airport in Antioquia, Jose Maria Cordova is located 30 minutes away from Medellin, in the municipality of Rionegro. From the moment you land you will find a large number of places to visit and things to do in Medellin and its surrounding areas.
The Jose Maria Cordova in the second largest airport in Colombia by number of passengers. Besides hosting several regional airlines, also is the hub of many international routes. In 2011, more than 3.5 million passengers in over 50,000 flights, passed by this international airport.
The main destinations from the JMC international are cities in the United States, Madrid, Curacao, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru, and domestic flights to major cities, such as Bogota, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andres.
Freight transport, is also one of the strengths of this terminal, most of the production of flowers and other regional products of the eastern Antioquia go through the JMC. From here there are cargo flights to countries in South, Central and North America and some seasonal services and charter flights to some European countries.
The airport counts with over 80 commercial stores, where travellers can get souvenirs, books, coffee, fast food, among others.
Located in an isolated area in Rionegro, the airport is surrounded by nature. There are some tranquil hotels, haciendas and country restaurants, that are always ready to serve the many tourist coming not only to use the airport premises but also to relax and enjoy of this peaceful zone called Llanogrande.
