El Poblado Park is located in the most active neighborhood in the city. It’s close to Parque Lleras and it’s the starting point of the Golden Mile, an area that gathers the most important things to do in Medellin and the most exciting places to go in town.
El Poblado Park is the main square of El Poblado neighborhood. It’s historically important for being the exact spot where the Spaniards founded the first European settlement in the Aburra Valley, in 1616, and it is considered the first seed of Medellin. There are no remains of that time however.
This park is a very traditional Antioquian plaza that follows the Spaniard architecture with the main building being the Saint Joseph Church (Iglesia San Jose del Poblado). The park is on the intersection of El Poblado Avenue and the Calle 10, this last one a preferred place by young people because of its active nightlife.
El Poblado park is very close to the Lleras Park, one of the most busy and important places in Medellin thanks to its large amount of commercial, services and entertainment business.
EL Poblado Park is part of the neighborhood with the same name, the most traditional and secure part of Medellin and the most visited by tourist and locals looking for the best of the city in entertainment and social life.
