The largest and most representative sports center in Medellin, the Atanasio Girardot frequently holds local, national and international events and competitions, offers hundreds of activities and other things to do in Medellin.
The Atanasio Girardot is one of the most complete sport units and the better built in Latin America.
The Atanasio Girardot Stadium and the Sports Center are located in one of the most central residential area of Medellin, the Estadio Neighborhood, at the intersection of two of the main road: Avenue 70, that runs from south to north and Colombia Avenue that runs from east to west. Adjacent to the Stadium there are two of the most educative centers in the city: National College Marco Fidel Suarez and the San Ignacio School. West of the sports complex there is an exclusive shopping area and the El Obelisco, “The Obelisk” shopping center. In this last one, games that occur inside the stadium every week, are projected on giant screens. The Estadio Metro station is located just beside the Sports complex, allowing strategic access to and from other parts of the metropolitan area of Medellin. The IV Army Brigade is located also in the vicinity, which guarantees the security of the entire zone.
